African English

Based upon the need for all mankind to partake of the Living Water, “Witness at the Water” [the title of the drama], takes the listener through 52 insights [episodes] into the lives of 4 children. Taking the listeners through a year in the lives of 4 African children, it touches upon young people’s successes, failures, crises, challenges and celebrations. Both primary and secondary research was conducted to find the “hot buttons”, to ensure that the series deals with issues that are being faced by children. The scripts use the events and the people of both the Old and New Testaments to illuminate the lessons learnt. The key thrust is centred on the ministry of Jesus as the Living Water … that He came to give life for the lost.

Facilitated by a Grandmother, who is called by God to this ministry through prior events in her life, she plays the role of an “intercessor” in the lives of the children.  The Grandmother also becomes the alternate/substitute “parent figure”, allowing us to mirror the real-life situation many of our children in Africa are faced with … parentless because of Aids, a parent removed because of work opportunities in other countries, and even abandonment.
